BROH: Building a Brighter Future for Birbhum

BIRNAGARI RAY OF HOPE WELFARE SOCIETY is a non-governmental organization (NGO) working to create a better future for the vulnerable communities of Mayureswar-I and Mayureswar-II Blocks in Birbhum District, West Bengal. Founded in 2018 by the dedicated social worker Sristidhar Bayen, the organization has been registered under the Society Act since 2020-21.

What is our mission ?

At BIRNAGARI RAY OF HOPE WELFARE SOCIETY, our mission is to empower the lives of the most vulnerable people in our communities. We believe that everyone deserves a chance to thrive, and we work tirelessly to provide them with the resources and support they need to build a better life.

One of the key areas where we focus our efforts is education. We believe that education is the foundation for a better future, and we are committed to providing quality education to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. We also recognize the crucial role that agriculture plays in the region's prosperity. That's why we've launched a comprehensive agriculture project designed to empower farmers and cultivate a more sustainable and prosperous agricultural landscape.

Our Project and Achievements

Supporting Better, Healthier, Less Effortful Agriculture

Our agriculture project goes beyond simply providing handouts. We understand that long-term success hinges on empowering farmers with the knowledge and resources they need to thrive.

  • Consulting: Our team of experienced agricultural experts provides farmers with personalized guidance.
  • Training: We conduct regular workshops and training sessions covering a wide range of topics.
  • Handholding Support: We walk alongside farmers every step of the way, offering ongoing support.

One of the most innovative aspects of our agriculture project is our focus on sustainable irrigation solutions. We actively involve in building solar mini river-lift irrigation pumps and promoting water conservation practices.

The results of our agriculture project are already starting to bear fruit. Farmers are reporting increased yields, improved crop quality, and reduced costs. Moreover, the adoption of sustainable irrigation practices is helping to conserve water and protect the environment.

Empowering Vulnerable Communities Through Education

One of the key areas where we focus our efforts is education. Our education project started in 2017 with just 10 students in the village of Harishara. Today, we have expanded our reach to 59 students in Mahisha village as well. In total there are more than 1500 students benefitted by us.

Our education project is unique in that it takes place outside of normal school hours. We use readily available learning materials and play equipment to create a fun and engaging learning environment for children. We also organize various awareness camps, social, and cultural events to help children develop their social and emotional skills.

Our Achievements:

Since we started our education project, we have seen a significant improvement in the academic performance of the children we serve. Many of our students have gone on to attend higher education, and some have even found jobs. More importantly, we have seen a positive change in the overall well-being of the children. They are now more confident, outgoing, and eager to learn.
